A TAUNTON charity supporting the homeless is desperately seeking new premises.

Open Door has outgrown its base in Wood Street and needs to move to continue its work helping some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

A spokesman said: "Over the last five years, Open Door has proved to be a great success and a worthwhile cause.

"Put simply, we provide those in need with a warm shower, a quick snack, new clothing and help and advice.

"As a result of the commitment of two exceptional members of staff and the dedication of our trustees, we have now outgrown our premises.

"We have extremely good relationships with our current neighbours - local businesses, residents and one of Taunton's largest primary schools - and it will be a shame to move.

"But if anyone in the Taunton area feels they can help, please let us know."

One of the homeless people who has used the centre since it opened has paid tribute to the service it provides.

Tom said: "Open Door has enabled me to keep myself and my clothes clean.

"I am able to walk the streets with dignity and nobody knows that I am homeless."
