I WONDER if any of your readers have ever thought of writing a short story?
As a keen reader and writer myself, I have noticed a dramatic decline in the number of outlets for short stories in recent years, as traditional magazines have gone out of publication and big business book publishers increasingly concentrate on profitable novels from a small number of well known authors.
Now, in order to help halt the decline of the short story, the New Writers Group is holding a story writing competition, and we would like to attract entrants from all parts of the country. There will be a total of £500 in prize money, and if funds permit, we hope to publish an anthology of some of the best entries.
Anyone interested in entering the competition can find out more by sending a small stamped self-addressed envelope to: The New Writers Group, c/o 23 Mill Crescent, Tamworth, Staffordshire B78 2LX A.JENNS
