WELLINGTON is being targeted in a mini crime wave, with incidents up 50% in the past six months.

At Monday's town council meeting, PC Mark Jone3s told councillors about many incidents which had occured through October.

PC Jones said: "We have had five reported dwelling burglaries, seven non-dwelling burglaries and made two arrests regarding these.

"There have been four thefts from motor vehicles and we have had one arrest with regard to that."

He also listed four cases of criminal damage to vehicles and said the crime was mainly limited to Tonedale, where police community support officers are trying to start up a Neighbourhood Watch scheme.
