DRIVERS who speed through Milverton are being targeted by police.
The speedwatch team has assessed two sites in Butts Way as a possible patrol point after councillors and residents expressed concern at the 20mph speed limit being ignored.
Officers could soon be stood near the road monitoring the speed of vehicles entering the village and the parish council is hoping to put a speed indicator device on the roadside.
Clerk Gwilym Wren said: “I think it’s fair to say in principal it’s agreed something needs to be done here. Cars hurtle down the bank and some accelerate going the other way to get up the hill.
“But it’s a tricky place for somebody to stand with a speed camera. It’s extremely narrow, so we will have to wait and see.”
