THE Somerset Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to take part in the UK's biggest simultaneous ideas exchange as part of Enterprise Week 2006 tomorrow (Friday) at a Speednetworking Extravaganza.

The event, being held at the Bridgwater Canalside Centre, is part of a UK-wide event, called Speednetwork the Nation, which is set to be the biggest of its kind ever seen in the country with hundreds of speednetworking events taking place between 12pm and 1pm.

Speednetworking is a fun, high energy way to encourage potential entrepreneurs of any age to share ideas, practice pitching and make useful contacts - fast.

In just one hour participants will have bounced ideas off other people and possibly even created new networks of advisors, like-minded people, potential customers or suppliers.

To mark the occasion, the Somerset Chamber has teamed up with Business Link and Old Mill Accountancy Services to present Somerset's contribution to this national initiative and the event will also provide a buffet lunch as well as the Top Ten Tips for Networking supplied by Rachel Sweet of SweetSkills.

Kevin Steele, of the Make Your Mark campaign, says: "By holding a Speednetworking event as part of the Speednetwork the Nation initiative, the Somerset Chamber of Commerce is actively supporting the development of a local culture of enterprise and innovation. Connecting people who share the same drive and ambition, or introducing individuals to peers and mentors who can offer inspiration and practical help, is vital to expanding, exchanging and developing ideas."

Somerset Chamber Chief Executive Rupert Cox said: "A whole world of opportunities can be unlocked by simply chatting with another person which is why the Somerset Chamber is taking part in this national extravaganza. As the leading business support organisation in Somerset we are delighted to be leading on this exciting project and look forward to welcoming all businesses to the Bridgwater Canalside Centre."
