THIS is what a massive care home could look like next to the new Bridgwater Hospital.

Care provider N Notaro Homes is behind the proposed 88-bed dementia care home which aims to tackle “the serious problem” of mental illness among the elderly.

N Notaro says the £10million care home could create up to 120 jobs.

It would be built off Bower Lane, near the Bath Road junction and close to the £33million Bridgwater Hospital which is expected to open early next year.

It would include 24 assisted living units and would provide specialist care for older people living with dementia and younger adults with learning disabilities.

Nunzio Notaro, the firm's managing director, says the home will help to meet a growing need in the area.

He said: "There is a serious problem ahead of us all.

"Figures show that the number of older people living in the UK will increase by 28% within the next 30 years and sadly illnesses like dementia are on the increase.

“Therefore we have to be able to meet the demand, which means a need for more care facilities."

Mr Notaro said the home would incorporate state-of-the-art technology, such as intelligent bedroom sensors and wireless care planning, as well as a cinema, cafe, and craft rooms.
