A TALENTED marksman from Wellington is aiming for European glory this weekend... aged just 13.

Sharp shooter Theo Ling, brother of Olympic star Ed, has been included in the Under-21 GB shooting team for the European Championships in Spain.

He is thought to be the youngest ever called up to the squad and will take part in the Universal Trench discipline in Granada from tomorrow (June 14) to Sunday.

Theo said: “This is not about getting medals for me but about gaining valuable experience for the future.”

The Wellington School student has been shooting since he was eight years old and is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his brother Ed and father Stephen.

Ed represented Team GB in the London Olympics last year and Stephen is a former GB shooting coach.

Ed, 30, said: “This is fantastic and I’m very proud that my younger brother has made the GB team at a younger age than I did. I believe he is the youngest to ever make the team.”

Headmaster of Wellington School, Martin Reader, also praised the young marksman on his call up.

He said: “This is a great achievement for Theo and a wonderful opportunity. We look forward to hearing about his experiences on his return.”
