A DARING cyclist has completed a gruelling 2,350-mile ride from London to Marrakech.

Former Court Fields School student Jonathan Amirmadhi, pictured above, set out on the mammoth challenge with two friends, hoping to raise £10,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.

The trio set off from Big Ben at the Houses of Parliament aiming to reach their Moroccan destination in 30 days.

Jonathan, of Barns Mead Road, said: “Highlights included Moroccan cuisine of mint tea, tagine, fresh orange juice, nut cakes and watermelon.

“There were so many Moroccan drivers cheering us on and the incredible kindness of the people helped.

“Low points were tiny ants everywhere, being ripped off by vendors, speeding buses and bumpy roads. We suffered from saddle soreness, broken bikes and our fingers continued to lose sensation.”

The route took the hardy fundraisers over mountains and through 40 degree heat while carrying camping equipment on their backs.

Detours meant the 2,000-mile trip was extended by a further 350 miles, taking two days longer than hoped.

But if that wasn’t enough, the friends are now planning their next ‘Ballsy Adventure’ to help them get to the £10,000 mark.

Jonathan, who is studying a masters degree at Exeter University, said: “We have raised more than £5,000 for prostate cancer and we would like to raise more.”
