THE Exmoor Society has generously donated £2,000 to Dulverton Middle School to support the continuation of its unique 'Exmoor Curriculum.'
Pupils learn about Exmoor's ecology and partake in practical outdoor experiences such as orienteering, kayaking, sailing and walking.
Christopher Whinney, vice-chairman of the Exmoor Society said: “We are very proud of our association with this curriculum and what it offers the children of Exmoor."
Over the last two years, the school has continued its work in partnership with Exmoor National Park to develop the Exmoor Curriculum further by introducing and developing a course in Practical Environmental and Conservation Skills in Year 8.
This culminates in the pupils attaining a nationally recognised VRQ qualification.
Jerry Wheedon, head teacher said: “We are extremely grateful for the continued support of the Exmoor Society; their contribution has enhanced the education provision of hundreds of local children over the last 10 years who now have a real understanding and appreciation of the environment in which they live.”
