PUPILS and teachers at St Dubricius First School, Porlock, are hoping to raise funds for charity by wearing trainers to lessons on Friday.
The youngsters are taking part in the RNLI's SOS Day will have to donate at least 50p to wear their trainers, and the school has also secured a supply of colourful RNLI shoelaces to be sold at £1 a pair.
Headteacher Chris Blazey said: "Although the coastline near the school is magnificent, our surroundings have made us all the more conscious of the potential dangers of the sea.
"I am sure this is a major reason why we have keenly supported the RNLI for several years.
"Last year we raised £100 and he hope we can top that this year."
