A VILLAGE school is celebrating its success in a recent OFSTED report.

Oake and Bradford Primary School received an overall rating of good in their latest inspection carried out in December.

The report stated: "This is a good school providing a well balanced education for its pupils that has a positive impact on all aspects of their development."

The report said that the new head teacher, Angela Bridgeland, and governing body had quickly established good leadership and management of the school as well as working to create a strong teamwork amongst staff, pupils, governors and parents.

Overall effectiveness, achievements and standards, personal development and well-being, quality of provision, curriculum and other activities and leadership and management were all graded good, with care, guidance and support, graded as satisfactory.

The children's behaviour and how well learners enjoy their education both came out as outstanding.

The report said: "Pupils' personal development is good. Pupils show tremendous enjoyment of all that they do at school and this pleases parents and carers as much as the good progress their children are making.

"Another notable strength in this are is the pupils' excellent behaviour."

It was suggested that the school could improve further by implementing a wider selection of books to raise achievement in reading, use greater consistency in marking and establish targets for students.

Head teacher Angela Bridgeland, who is also head of Nynehead Primary, said: "Obviously we are all very proud. Most of the credit must go to the previous head teacher of nine years Pam Scott, but the current team needs a lot of praise as well.

"We were very pleased with the results and particularly delighted with how the children behaved."
