FEDERATED Primary Schools, Crowcombe and Stogumber have a new permanent head teacher, Julie Norman.

Although Mrs Norman has been the interim head teacher since September last year, she has recently accepted the job on a permanent basis.

Mrs Norman said: “I’m really excited because I have been involved in planning so many changes and I will get to see them through.”

Stogumber Primary currently caters for Reception, Years 1 and 2 in Class One and Years 5 and 6 in Class Two, while Crowcombe Primary has classes for Reception to Year 4.

Due to an increase in the number of pupils applying to the schools, as of September, Key Stage 1 will be at Stogumber while Key Stage 2 will be housed in Crowcombe.

Mrs Norman said: “There will be a pre-school at Stogumber, too.

“We are striving to become a Centre of Excellence. We want to create the best school in the area, where parents who aren’t from the area will want to send their children here, but we will still keep that we are a rural school.

“We are really pushing ICT so we can prepare the children for a future we don’t even know about yet but they will be ready for it.”
