OVER £400K of major highway improvements in Dunster are now complete – in time for the Easter break.
Somerset County Council completed the necessary works ahead of schedule and wants to thank the residents and businesses of Dunster for their continuing patience.
The joint works with Wessex Water started in early January and required the closure of West Street and Church Street with pedestrian access maintained throughout.
New more energy efficient traffic signals were installed as well as resurfacing, new footpaths and carrying out improvements in anticipation of a new doctor’s surgery. Works were planned to minimise overall disruption as much as possible.
Michele Cusack, Economic & Community Infrastructure Operations Director at Somerset County Council said: “This has been a major programme of work and a major investment in Dunster.
"We are delighted to have completed the works ahead of schedule and in time for the Easter break.
"We have tried to keep disruption to a minimum and want to thank the public and businesses for their patience whilst the works were completed.”
