A NEW community sports initiative is being launched in West Somerset to encourage all ages to Just Play sport.

West Somerset Sports and Leisure Centre in Minehead is aiming to encourage members of the local community who have lost touch with organised sport to re-engage with a range of activities such as badminton, football, basketball, table tennis, cricket and netball.

The Just Play sports initiative allows participants to play sport on a casual turn up and play basis and pay for individual sessions.

Senior team leader at West Somerset Sports Centre, Paul Spence, said the flexibility of the scheme was the key to its success.

“When we trialled the Just Play badminton scheme at the centre it has proved to be a great success so we thought we would try it with a number of other sports.”
