FAMILIES enjoyed fun in the sun on Bank Holiday Monday when they learned all about Saxon life.
The Museum of Somerset opened for children and adults to enjoy a day of living history with a range of activities. Visitors to the museum enjoyed a hands-on education about the Saxon period with activities such as pot-making and wood-turning.
Susie Simmons, the museum’s visitor services manager, said: “It was a very good day – we had more than 800 visitors and the atmosphere was lovely.
ANITA and Basil Kingscott peruse the artefacts.
“The Saxon period is a part of history we don’t generally know a huge amount about, but it was great to watch all the children getting hands on with the pot making and getting stuck in.
“There were re-enactments throughout the day and there was something for everyone because we had a broad range of visitors from young children to grandparents.”
