A YOUNG mother of two has set up a home birth group to help give advice to women thinking of having giving birth in their homes.

Tessa Dean, from Trull, has had both her children at home - the second one is only three weeks old.

Following her experiences she has decided to set up a group to offer and advice to other families who are planning on doing the same.

Tessa said: "Whilst home birth is becoming more common, the proportion of women giving birth at home in the UK is still only just above 2%.

"Research shows that hospital birth is no safer than home birth for women whose pregnancies have been normal and many women (and their partners) find it a more relaxing and enjoyable experience in their own homes."

The home birth group is going to meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month at St Mary Magdalene Church in Taunton from 7pm-9pm.

The first meeting takes place on Wednesday, (March 28).
