ONE of Taunton’s primary schools is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year – and staff and pupils alike want former pupils to help make it a birthday to remember.

Children at Blackbrook Primary are producing a special edition of their school magazine to mark the occasion.

The Blackbrook Buzz wants to hear memories of the school from past pupils and staff to create a memento that will stand the test of time.

Headteacher Barney Rycroft said: “It’s 25 years on and Blackbrook remains a popular and thriving school.

“We are proud to have offered families within Taunton an outstanding education for so many years, and we are very keen to collate memories of the last quarter century.

“Staff, pupils and families have come and gone but the values and ethos put in place all those years ago remain as strong as ever.”

The school, in Ashbourne Crescent, would like past pupils to submit short pieces of writing titled: “My Favourite Blackbrook Memories” to go in the commemorative magazine.

Mr Rycroft added: “This ‘window on the past’ would be fascinating for our current school families to read and would allow us to reflect on the things that have changed or stayed the same over time.”
