CHILDREN in West Somerset are getting fluorescent jackets so they can be seen in the dark.
The first of 700 jackets being distributed to first schools across the district by local police community support officers have been delivered to eager youngsters at Cutcombe First School.
Safety officer, Pete Hughes, said: "Rural roads are often unlit or there are no pavements, which puts children at risk.
"The fluorescent high visibility jackets will help make the children more easily seen by drivers, cyclists and other road users."
