DUNSTER'S landmark Castle Hotel in High Street has new owners.

The hotel will remain shut for at least two months as West Somerset's Gerald David and Family embarks on a programme of refurbishment.

Gerald David said: "Everyone knows there is huge business potential in Dunster and we are delighted to be joining the other traders there."

The hotel is the latest addition to a trading portfolio which includes five butcher's shops, Minehead's Ocean Catch fish shop, a lingerie business and the Culbone Stables Hotel, near Porlock.

Mr David added: "It's probably fair to say that the Castle Hotel hasn't made the best of an excellent trading position in recent years but we believe we can transform it just as we have done at Culbone."

The Castle Hotel will eventually have five large letting rooms as well as bars and dining facilities.
