DETAILED plans of the proposed Second Strategic Road Route which will link Somerset and the South West to London are to be considered by Somerset County Council Executive at its meeting on the April 25.

Exact details of the route, which runs along the line of the A303 and A358, will include a new junction with the M5 in the Blackbrook area of Taunton and will be considered at the county council executive meeting.

Patrick Flaherty, head of physical regeneration at Somerset County Council, said: "We will be taking local residents' views on board as part of our detailed response to the Highways Agency proposal.

"We continue to work closely with the Highways Agency to ensure the interests of Somerset, its local and business communities are protected through the development of this scheme."

Public meetings have already been held along the proposed route and a final meeting, for residents of the Blackbrook area, is planned for 7pm on Thursday, March 29, at the Blackbrook Pavilion in Taunton.

Plans of the proposal are also available for inspection at County Hall B Block reception in Taunton.
