RESIDENTS from Halcon and Lambrook in Taunton are invited to join the Community Clean-Up Day on Wednesday, April 4.

The day starts at 10am from the All Saints Church Hall on the Roman Road but residents can take part at anytime up until 3pm.

During the day volunteers can join litter picks across the neighbourhood and help will be on hand for clearing fly tipping, dealing with graffiti and assistance for people wanting to clear refuse from their gardens.

Two skips will be provided outside the Link Centre for people to dispose of general household waste and larger household items that can be difficult to dispose of.

Cllr Joanna Lewin-Harris, executive councillor for community leadership, at Taunton Deane Council said: "I encourage as many people as possible to take part in the day as it is the community working together that can makes the real difference in tackling neighbourhood problems such as litter, graffiti and anti-social behaviour.

"Days like this work wonders for neighbourhoods and there are plans to have similar days across Taunton Deane.

"My thanks to all the sponsors and I look forward to seeing as many people as possible on the ground next Wednesday."

The event is being sponsored by Taunton Deane Council, Asda, British Nuclear Group, Somerset West Crime Prevention Panel, Somerset County Council, and Viridor.
