NOTED singer and songwriter Saffron Summerfield will join harpist Hazel Prior for an evening of music in aid of Amnesty International on Thursday, May 21 in Carhampton Village Hall.
Their repertoire is a rare mix – quirky arrangements of blues and jazz standards, traditional songs, beautiful Celtic tunes and new songs written by Saffron.
Saffron has her own Mother Earth Music label and sells recordings of her music around the world.
Hazel Prior has been playing the Celtic harp for over 20 years.
She has provided harp music for a wide range of events, from the Ferrara Music Festival in Italy to the accompanying music for a Shakespeare play in Bristol.
Saffron and Hazel are currently putting together a show Inspired by Exmoor, depicting rural and historical life in the area and featuring digital images and Saffron’s wonderful new songs, some of which will be premiered at the fundraising evening.
Tickets for the evening cost £8 (£5 for under-16s), including the supper, and must be obtained in advance from the Carhampton Village Stores, Toucan in Minehead or by phoning 01643 704779.
