ROLL playing' has won Halcon Primary School, in Taunton, a top national award.
A bread making initiative helped Halcon scoop the Best Event in a School, College or University' title during Family Learning Week.
Jenny Joslin, Family Advice and Liaison Worker at Halcon, said: "We wanted to show families through our event that they have a vital role in their children's learning both at school and at home and make them feel welcomed and valued in the school environment.
"Paul Youd, our bread making tutor, is passionate about his subject and his relaxed, friendly approach to teaching has helped to make the event so inclusive and successful and most of all fun.
"The activity took families through every stage of bread making, learning new skills along the way including planning a shopping list through to following a recipe, weighing and measuring the ingredients to discovering new vocabulary.
"Families could then get involved in further bread making and family events to ensure that learning did not stop on the day."
Head teacher Richard Adams said: "To be selected as the Best Family Learning Week Event is a fantastic achievement and my thanks to everyone concerned."
