A QUIZ and raffle at Victoria Park Bowling Club, Bridgwater, raised £500 for Taunton-based cancer charity Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE).
Money raised helps buy equipment for the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.
Collection pots for SURE brought in £36.71 at Londis Bridgwater; £21.69 from the One Stop Shop, Bridgwater; £7.31 at the Skipton Building Society, Taunton; £16.05 from Castle Bridge News, Taunton; £40.48 at the One Stop Shop, Galmington; and £22.89 at Cillees (Fran and Nick Lee).
Bucket collections totalled £74.32 at Asda, Bridgwater; and £218.35 at Asda, Taunton.
Collections of 5p coins amounted to £99.35 at the Minster Pharmacy, Ilminster; £45 from Claire Jones and family, of Curry Rivel; and £115.55 from the Beacon Centre, which also handed over a further £4.24.
There was an anonymous donation of £21.98; £20 from R. H. Stiling; £100 from Colin Chapman, of Hinton St George; £15 donation from Brenda White.
This week's total of £1,358.92 means that £535,927.26 has been raised since SURE linked up with the County Gazette.
