Somerset College is delighted to announce that student, Abigale Legge, has been selected as the UK winner in the selection process to be Adecco UK’s ‘CEO for a Month'.

The announcement was made on June 13 Adecco’s WayToWork.com website, that Abigale had been selected as the successful UK #CEO1Month candidate from the 1,273 UK applicants.

Abigale is studying  BA (Hons) Business Management at Somerset College, Taunton, and entered the #CEO1Month challenge to help gain an insight into the wider business world by having Adecco’s UK & Ireland CEO, John Marshall, as her mentor for the month of July.

This once in a lifetime opportunity will enable Abigale to receive unprecedented practical work-based coaching, a huge boost to her future employability…as well as a generous salary from Adecco whilst she is #CEO1Month for the UK & Ireland.

Abigale’s BA (Hons) Business Management course at Somerset College, Taunton is just one of the degrees offered by the college that reflect both industry and current trends in today’s modern workplace.

The course provides students, like Abigale, the opportunity to gain a sound background in all areas of the world of business, along with opening doors to a variety of interesting jobs, in a range of industries.

Jo Burford (Vice-Principal, Somerset College) says, “Abigale’s success in the Adecco #CEO1Month competition is a true testament of her commitment and enthusiasm on her degree course here at the College, and her entrepreneurship.

All of us at Somerset College are delighted that Abigale has won the UK & Ireland #CEO1Month competition, and hope she thoroughly enjoys her time at the helm at Adecco in July, and wish her every further success in Adecco’s hunt for a Global #CEO1Month.”

Abigale’s studying her BA (Hons) Business Management in Taunton, Somerset, on 2 days per week over 3 years, at the same time as helping set up a small business in West Somerset.

Abigale says, “I am very excited and proud that I will be going to the next level of the challenge. I’ll be shadowing the UK and Ireland CEO throughout July and helping with his role and general responsibilities.

After that I will be competing for a month and a half on a global level against the other finalists from around the world in a project called ‘Innovation – How would you improve Adecco?’.

Hopefully I will then be shortlisted to the final 10 for the boot camp in Madrid in September, with the chance to go on and shadow the global CEO of Adecco in October.

Somerset College has guided me with my entry and I’ve already improved my presentation and application skills, and used the knowledge I’ve learnt on my course. ”
