A TOTAL of 450 trees and 480 metres of hedges were planted in Taunton Deane in the year to April through the Somerset County Council-run Somerset Landscape Scheme.
The initiative, backed with £8,100 council funding, also saw three orchard and four hedge planting schemes, four pond restoration projects and one woodland management scheme.
Phil Stone, Somerset County Council's Landscape Officer, said: "The Somerset Landscape Scheme grants are essential in aiding landowners to carry out conservation projects throughout the county.
"The impact of each grant, however big or small is hugely significant in helping to protect and preserve our local biodiversity, their habitats and our landscape.
"This in turn is beneficial to both local residents and tourists, helping to ensure that Somerset remains a wonderful county to live in and visit."
