Taunton Deane Male Voice Choir - Cornwall Festival LAST Saturday, May 5, the Taunton Deane Male Voice Choir travelled to Cornwall to participate in the Third Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival. The Festival featured sixty choirs from thirteen countries.

The choir members had been eagerly anticipating the event since being invited to participate lat year by Festival Director, Dr Roy Wales.

The choir's first performance in Liskeard was a slight disappointment because it came at the end of a very long day and was hampered by a lack of rehearsal facilities. However, Rachie and An Evening's Pastorale were performed with distinction.

Sunday's performance in St Austell was a triumph. The first song, Rachie was sung with enormous energy and confidence which set the standard for the evening. The unaccompanied singing of Swansea Town and An Evening's Pastorale was outstanding. The two pieces written specially for the choir, Irving and The Perfect Male Voice Choir, were interpreted with accuracy and feeling.

The choir's final performance on Monday at the Eden Project drew great praise from Festival Director, Dr Roy Wales, who was very impressed with the progress made by the choir.

The choir was again indebted to Musical Director, David Yates and Accompanist, Hazel Reed. Choir Chairman, Tony Slavin did an excellent job organising the whole weekend.

Taken all round the event was a great success both musically and socially.

The choir's next performance will be at All Saints& St Nicholas Church, Dulverton on May 19 at 7.30 pm.
