IF you're over 60, on a low income and have a connection with Taunton, you could qualify to move into an almshouse.
The Taunton Heritage Trust, that has provided sheltered accommodation since 1635, is holding an open day to allow potential tenants to check out its homes.
The charity has 67 self-contained flats for people capable of independent living, with part-time warden assistance and a 24-hour piper alarm system.
The trust provides white goods and flooring to each flat as well as communal laundry rooms and community rooms for residents.
The open day is at Huish Homes, Magdalene Street, Taunton, on Thursday, November 26, from 10am to 12noon.
