TAUNTON Deane MP Rebecca Pow is likely to be out of action for the next six weeks.
Ms Pow, who won the seat for the Conservatives in May last year, is having an operation at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, this week.
She is then likely to be recuperating until the end of February.
A spokeswoman for Ms Pow said: "Please rest assured that although Rebecca might not be available personally during this time, both the constituency office in Taunton and the London Office will both remain fully functioning.
"Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience."
