A MOTHER and daughter who became disillusioned with council cuts have struck out and opened a new day centre for adults with learning disabilities.

Former Somerset County Council employees Pauline Aldridge and Jemma Winter said they saw the need for good quality day care after becoming frustrated with the effects of cuts to local government adult services.

They proceeded to set up Right Steps Day Care based in the village of West Bagborough aimed at adults with learning disabilities including dyslexia, sensory impairment, autism and mental health problems.

Mrs Aldridge said: "We are a non-discriminative so if you feel you may wish to use our service, please do get in touch. Companionship, socialisation and activities for the elderly can also be accommodated for.

"We operate from West Bagborough with our centre open 5 days a week, 9-3pm throughout the year."

The day care centre accepts clients from Taunton, Wellington, Bridgwater and West Somerset including Minehead and all the villages in between.
