TAUNTON Deane is getting a right Royal clean up - and Taunton Deane MP Rebecca Pow is lending a bit of elbow grease.
She's joining both Wellington residents and the Basin’s Volunteer Group and the Halcon Little Litter Pickers to help tidy up their local area ahead of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
The first Clean for the Queen litter pick is being organised by Wellington town councillor Bob Bowrah at the Basins Container area on Saturday, March 5, from 10am.
Ms Pow is also attending an event organised by the Halcon Little Litter Pickers the following Saturday (March 12), meeting at the Acorn’s Children’s Centre at 10am.
Ms Pow said: “This is a great opportunity to make sure we get Taunton Deane neat and tidy in time for the Queen’s official 90th birthday on April 21.
"Although the big litter pick will take place over March 4, 5 and 6, people can get involved whenever they like.
"It is the support and action people are taking, and not the dates, which are important.
"I really hope people in Taunton Deane will consider getting involved so together we can help mark this momentous occasion.”
If you would like to get involved, call 01823-666739. Volunteer groups are also invited to put their names forward.
