CREECH St Michael is hosting the village's fourth community day on Saturday (July 9).

Tickets for Party in the Park Afterdark were on sale for just four weeks and sold out a month before the event.

The fun is taking place in the recreation park at Creech and is aimed at the whole family with a children's disco, two live bands, hot food stalls, licenced bar, children's rides and a floodlit play area.

A spokesman for the organising committee said “We are delighted the event is so popular.

"We expected lots of interest following our award win, but are blown away by the speed the tickets have sold.”

The 2015 event topped the Best Have a Field Day category in the Fields in Trust awards and organisers attended an awards ceremony in London to accept the award.

Those not lucky enough to get an Afterdark ticket can still attend the free daytime event between noon and 4pm, which will have a science show, refreshments, reptile handling, donkey rides, puppet show, train rides, gladiator joust, archery, facepainting, balloon modelling, displays, stalls and family games.

Local county councillor David Fothergill will be at the daytime event to compere.

He said “I've been to the Party in the Park for the last three years and it has been a fantastic event.

"I was therefore absolutely delighted to be asked to be involved. This is a real community event which just gets better and better.”
