THE RAILFUTURE group has lent its support to a campaign to get regular trains running between Minehead and Taunton.

Nigel Bray, honorary secretary of the Railfuture group, an independent organisation campaigning for better rail services for both passengers, said the installation of daily, all year services, was the long term answer to the reduced bus services in the region.

"Young people in West Somerset are facing difficulties travelling to Taunton because fewer sixth form courses are on offer," Mr Bray said.

"An all year train service on the West Somerset Railway to give access to jobs and education in Taunton, Bridgwater, Bristol and Exeter, encourage more visitors and boost the local economy."

He said Railfuture supports Minehead Rail Link Group's campaign for an all year service and looks forward to the feasibility study soon to be published by Bath Spa University.
