AN AMBER weather warning for rain is in place today in Devon and Somerset and much of the South West.

The Met Office say localised flooding is likely to cause disruption on the roads today and could affect homes and businesses.

The forecast is for persistent heavy rain and thundery showers predicted for much of the day.

The winds will be strong too with gales likely over coasts and hills, meanwhile temperatures should range between 7 and 10 degrees centrigrade during the day.

Drivers are urged to take care on the roads.

The showers will continue tonight with some further heavy outbreaks. This will ease towards dawn but winds will stay strong.
