WATCHET Coastguard attended reports of a suspected Second World War ordinance on Kilve Beach.
The team were called out around lunchtime on Sunday and identified the item as a 'suspected projectile' and placed a cordon on the beach with police until a crew from the Military Explosive Ordinance Department arrived.
The EOD team confirmed it was safe and removed it from the beach for destruction later.
