THE village of Hemyock will light up this Saturday (December 3), when the local community turns out for a spectacular lights parade.
A lantern procession, led by a samba band, will wind its way through the village, switching on lights strung through the trees as they go.
This year's theme is the Hemyock light railway, and a giant steam engine lantern will be the centrepiece of the parade.
The marchers will be accompanied by illuminated tractors, provided by the Young Farmers.
The event will culminate with the lighting of a Christmas star on top of the church tower in the village centre, and songs from the primary school choir.
Parade organiser Tim Martin said: "The whole village has joined in with lantern-making, music-making and practical support.
"We're really grateful for the help we have had from the parish council and local businesses."
