THE lights went out on a Somerset town's Christmas tree following an act of vandalism.
Damaged was caused to an electricity wire supplying the tree in Wincanton's Market Place.
The incident happened on Saturday, December 3, between 10pm and 10.30pm.
The wire has since been repaired.
Police have now issued CCTV images of two men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.
PC Neil Wolstenholme, Wincanton beat manager and investigating officer, said: “Enquiries are ongoing to identify the offender or offenders in relation to this malicious damage.
“We’re asking people to look at the CCTV and help us identify the men in the images, as we want to speak to them about the damage caused.
“This incident has caused outrage and disgust locally and I’d urge anyone with information to call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5216269568.”
