PLANS for 29 new homes in Rockwell Green near Wellington have been submitted to Taunton Deane Borough Council.

The planning application for the new homes has been submitted by Wainhomes Holdings and if approved, would see building on land adjacent to Popes Lane at Rockwell Green near Wellington.

The 2.33 hectare site consists of a single agricultural field on the south eastern edge of Rockwell Green.

If approved, the proposed development will provide 29 new homes and landscape space, including a children’s play area as well as access to the site from Popes Lane.

The proposed housing in the document includes a range of housing from one-bed apartments to five-bed detached homes, and 25 per cent of the properties will be affordable housing.

As part of the application, the design statement in the application says the new estate would provide ‘a distinctive and attractive development which responds to the character of the surrounding village and respects the existing landscape’.

There is no date set yet as to when the plans will go before the Taunton Deane Borough Council planning committee.
