Taunton Stamp Club

THE chairman Mr Nigel Cox opened the meeting by welcoming the evening’s speaker Mr Richard Stupples, the subject of the evenings presentation was the presenters very extensive collection of unique postal material dating from Queen Victory to George VI.

The first half of the evening presentation consisted of an extensive display of farthing and half penny rate stamps and Pittman’s post cards including some exceptionally rare Victorian material and the only known unique collection of Victorian over printed four penny stamps with a half penny overprint.

The concluding part of the presentation covered the period from Edward VII to George VI a very fertile period of Barbados’s postal history. The massive amount of material on display and the very interesting and informative verbal presentation delivered by the speaker was of great interest to all of the 21 club members present.

The next club meeting will be held on Monday, February 20, new members and/or visitors are always welcome meeting are held approximately every two weeks usually the first and third Monday of each month. The meeting venue is at Kilkenny Court, Clifton Terrace, Taunton TA2 7QL.
