THERE used to be a village outside of Taunton, surrounded by green fields and hedges.

It’s still called Monkton Heathfield. I think it should be renamed Croydon.

It’s an urban sprawl and it getting bigger every day. Good to see house-building, but on such a large scale in one place? 6,000 new homes to be built.

I’m impressed with the speed they are going up. I’m equally impressed with the traffic currently going right through the centre of Monkton Heathfield on the A3259. It’s not just the volume, it’s the HGVs.

Obviously the truckers are not keen on Bathpool’s own version of Milton Keynes.

All round the houses with five roundabouts. I can’t blame truck drivers, that terrific idea of a new A38 must cost an extra gallon’s worth of diesel.

As for the news that Simon Perks, MD of Persimmons Homes, wants to build another 2,500 houses, I bet he can’t wait to move to Monkton Heathfield where he will receive a big thank you from all the old and new residents.

By the way, the bus gate new residents were promised when they moved in to Monkton Heathfield is dead in the water.

Good old developers, always got the community at heart. Just like Carillion. Just don’t let them build the new roundabout at Creech Castle. We can’t wait that long.

The concerns of existing residents regarding the noise of the bikes and the illegal use of the bikes on the highway were ignored.
