A NEW headteacher has been appointed at a primary school in Taunton.
Parkfield Primary School has been running under interim/acting heads since September.
Gareth Jones, current headteacher at St John’s Primary School in Wellington, will be taking over the role for the 2017-18 school year, starting in September.
Mr Jones said: “I am very proud and honoured to have been appointed headteacher at Parkfield Primary School.
“Having already visited the school on several occasions prior to starting I have been very impressed by the atmosphere and the warm welcome I have received from everybody.
“The school is clearly greatly valued in the local community. I look forward to this exciting challenge and leading Parkfield through its next phase of development.
“I have one simple aspiration- to work with others to make the school one which all children, parents, staff, governors and the local community are deeply proud of.”
Guy Adams, chairman of governors, said: “We are delighted Mr Jones has accepted this position and are very excited about the future of Parkfield under his leadership.”
