STAFF at Kiddi Caru Nursery in Taunton are celebrating receiving a 'good' rating from Ofsted.

Education watchdog Ofsted inspected the nursery at Blackbrook Business Park in August - and heaped praise on staff and children.

The report said the management team demonstrates a commitment to the continued development of the nursery.

Ofsted also said in its report that the team reflects successfully upon areas that it can improve and incorporates the views of parents, staff and children in the process.

Also mentioned was the fact that the staff know the children well and plan stimulating activities.

Inbspector Petra Morgan said in her report: "Children have a positive attitude to learning and make good progress from their starting points.

"Management develops strong links with external professionals to support children who have special educational needs. For example, management seeks advice and guidance promptly, to meet children's individual care and learning needs effectively.

"Staff build secure bonds with children. Babies respond well to staff and quickly become confident to explore their environment.

"Older children thoroughly enjoy playing and interacting with staff throughout the day, and demonstrate they feel safe and secure."

Importantly, staff also develop effective partnerships with parents.

For example, they keep them fully informed of how their children have been during the day and share information about children's learning and development regularly.

Julia Gale, nursery manager, said: “We’re all absolutely delighted with this new report from Ofsted.

"Our aim at all times is to provide the highest standard of care to give the children who come here the very best start in life, so to have achieved a good Ofsted rating is brilliant.

"I’m very proud of the team here, and they should be extremely proud of themselves too. They all do a fantastic job and without them the nursery would not be able to provide such a wonderful offering for the children and their parents.”

The report also said the nursery is not yet 'outstanding' because, on occasion, staff do not organise group activities as well as possible to successfully encourage all children to participate and support their learning further.

The report added: "Staff do not make full use of opportunities for children to be independent and develop their self-care skills."
