SOMERSET cricketer James Hildreth and friends Adam Dibble, Ross Ward and Mark Turner have completed their 130-mile Hildy’s Hospice Hike and raised £5,125 for Children’s Hospice South West.
The team set off from the charity’s Little Bridge House hospice, near Barnstaple, last Wednesday, arriving at Little Harbour hospice, Cornwall, on Saturday.
At the end of the marathon event, James Hildreth said: "This challenge has been tougher than we ever imagined and we were all working close to our limits.
"However we stuck to our guns, kept each other going and made it over the finish line.
"It was great to meet some of the families that CHSW supports too and see where the money goes and why it’s so vital."
Emma Perry, senior fundraiser at CHSW, said: "We cannot thank James and his friends enough for this epic challenge and their great work in not only raising awareness of our charity but also their incredible fundraising.
"They’ve really hit a six with this hike, and our children and families will be so grateful."
