STAFF at a car dealership in Taunton are preparing to move to new, bigger premises.

Volvo dealership Taunton Motor Company will take on more staff when it relocates to a new site next year.

It will be setting up in larger premises on Priory Way once it moves from its long-term base in nearby Priory Bridge Road, which the company descries as "rundown".

The relocation will enable the firm to increase its car display in and around the showroom.

The new workshop will include state-of-the-art workshop bays with a while-you-wait servicing and MOT facility and technicians working on vehicles in pairs rather than individually.

Work on the new buildings started in March this year and the site will be shared with the Helston Garages group sister business in Taunton of Jaguar and Land Rover.

Volvo franchise director Mike Lloyd said: "The new service workshops will be operated with Volvo’s Personal Service Programme.

"VPS means that the team will have two technicians working on customers cars to half the time it takes to do the work on their car.

“The customer will be able to enjoy relaxing in our hospitality lounge while not having to wait too long for their car to be serviced or repaired.

"We will have a large viewing window for customers to see their car being worked on from the full luxury of the hospitality lounge.”

Mr Lloyd added: “Our products specialists will focus on ensuring customers can enquire about a car without feeling pressured into buying one unless they want to."
