A BUILDING was badly damaged after a fire in Wellington

Firefighters were called to a building used as changing rooms on Beech Grove at 10.53am today (January 2) after reports of a fire. 

Two engines from Wellington were sent to the incident.

Firefighters used one hose reel jet, one roof ladder and one triple extension ladder to extinguish the fire as well as a thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan to ensure the property was safe.

The fire caused forty per cent fire damage to the property externally and thirty per cent smoke damage to the building's interior.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that they will be investigating the criminal damage done to the site.
