PEOPLE walking to work this morning had to duck for cover amidst a sudden hail shower this morning.
Pedestrians could be heard yelping as falling ice clipped their already perished ears at about 8.45am.
The shower came as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for ice – which remains in place until 10am.
The Met Office said on its website: “Following a spell of rain, temperatures will fall quickly later in the night allowing ice to form on untreated pavements, cycle paths and roads.

“A few wintry showers will follow. Some injuries from slips and accidents on icy surfaces are possible. Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.”
