SPECULATION was rife that Waitrose hoped to open a new supermarket as part of the £105million Firepool regeneration in 2015.
A previous planning application for the site was rejected but councillors finally gave the green light to the latest proposals at a crunch meeting last night.
The St Modwen outline plans include 200 homes, a cinema, shops, and more than 400 parking spaces on the former Taunton Livestock Market site which closed in January, 2018.
And as the project is now expected to move forward, the types of shops people would like to see open will be under debate.
Do you think it’s time Taunton had it’s own Waitrose or would you prefer to see Iceland open in the town centre?
