MORE than 250 runners and 60 dogs turned out to a fun run this weekend.

The Woodland Wander and Doggy Dash, which was organised by 1610, took place at Hestercombe on Sunday, April 15.

The event was set to take place in March but was postponed due to the snow.

This year's run, a 5km or 2km, saw 80 more competitors than last year with 253 runners.

The run allows participants to take their dogs along with them.

1610 marketing and events coordinator and organiser of the event, Emma Warr, said: “We were delighted with the turn out this year, as despite the rain we had 80 more people than last year which proves that their is a real appetite for this family friendly event.

"We have had so much positive feedback from the competitors who were pleased that they could bring their children and their pets along to take part. One runner told me it was even better than the London Marathon which was great to hear.

"You only have to look at the faces of the runners and the dogs especially who were clearly loving ever minute of it, which is what it is all about."
