WELLINGTON School's headmaster has announced he will soon be leaving.

Henry Price, who became headteacher of the independent school in 2014, will be leaving to join Oakham School in Rutland as leader.

Mr Price says the move will bring him closer to his family and he has connections with the school already.

He will be leaving the school at the end of the next academic year.

Wellington School's chairman of governors, Anna Govey, said: β€œIt is testimony to the quality of his leadership, integrity and passion for education; we are delighted this has been recognised by Oakham School.”

"Over the coming months, the board of governors will conduct a thorough recruitment process and is confident of making an outstanding appointment to lead the school from September 2019.

"Wellington has an excellent reputation nationally and locally for the quality of its academic results, the breadth of opportunity beyond the classroom and its strong relationships across the school.

"We will undoubtedly attract a very strong field.”

She added she felt Mr Price had expanded the breadth and quality of provision at Wellington, while maintaining the school's ethos.
