MEMBERS of the public have the opportunity to question plans for a huge solar farm earmarked for West Somerset countryside.

Elgin Energy is behind a proposal to develop a 25MW solar farm on fields between Washford and Watchet.

A public exhibition will be held at Danesfield School in Watchet from 5pm-8pn on Wednesday, June 13.

Information boards and members of the project team will be available at the exhibition to help answer any questions.

Somerset County Gazette:

This follows a previous consultation event on May 10 where the full proposals were on display.

A protest group has already raised concerns over its blight on the area if it goes ahead.

A spokesman for Elgin Energy said at the time: “This represents an opportunity for all parties to actively engage, comment and shape the evolution of this project.”

The site will cover approximately 130 acres to the North West of Tropiquaria.

As of 2018, Elgin Energy has successfully deployed 230MW of solar energy across projects in the UK, providing the equivalent of 75,000 homes with clean energy annually.
